What IS a sales funnel, and WHY would you want (or need) one?
The goal of a sales funnel is to guide potential customers from awareness to action / decision-making. Let’s break down how to do this in 3 steps:
1. The top of the funnel is Awareness, and the goal is to capture the attention of your target audience.
- How-to: Use content that educates, entertains, or solves a problem, like blog posts, social media, ads, or free resources (e.g., eBooks, webinars).
- Example: Share a helpful blog or an Instagram post that addresses a common pain point or curiosity of your audience.
2. The middle of the funnel is Engagement, and the goal is to nurture your audience and build trust.
- How-to: Offer more in-depth value, such as case studies, email newsletters, or a lead magnet (like a free trial or a discount code). This stage is about positioning yourself as the solution to their problem.
- Example: After they download your free eBook, send them an email series with actionable tips related to the content they showed interest in.
3. The bottom of the funnel is Conversion, and the goal is to turn leads into paying customers.
- How-to: Offer a clear and compelling call-to-action (CTA) such as a special offer, consultation, or product demo. Provide social proof, testimonials, or case studies to ease their decision-making.
- Example: After nurturing them through email, offer a limited-time discount or a direct link to schedule a call or purchase.
