The Social Media Scoop for Entrepreneurs: May 2021

monthly social media scoop for entrepreneurs

I breathe social media, tech and everything digital, so I’m here to share some standout events and news from this month.

Later

One of my favourite social media scheduling and management tools just got WAY better! In an age when Hootsuite and other social media tools have downgraded their free accounts so that they’re practically useless, it’s heartening to see companies like Later step up and make their free offerings EVEN BETTER! Here’s the scoop:

  • LinkedIn publishing has been added to all account levels
  • TikTok scheduling is included in all plans (note: publishing via push notifications in the mobile app; full details here)
  • Each ‘social set’ includes 6 social platforms – more than most other free plans. (Free accounts include one social set, including: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok & LinkedIn.)

TikTok

If you use TikTok for your business (or want to), you’ll be happy to hear that TikTok just rolled out a preview feature so you can see how your video will look before it’s posted. Read all about it here.

Instagram

After months of testing their new feature, Instagram has started to roll out auto-captions for videos on Stories. To see if your account has this functionality, click on the sticker icon after you’ve uploaded or filmed a video. If you see the “captions” option (circled below), then the feature has been rolled out to your account! If your account doesn’t yet have this functionality, be patient… it’s coming.
